BROOMLANDS FARM BUILDINGS

BROOMLANDS FARM, BAILING HILL, WARNHAM, HORSHAM RH12 3PA

The brief was to convert a set of 1880’s built Barns, potentially the oldest mechanised threshing Barns in the South East, into high-end residential dwellings. The conversion took the form of the new houses being placed into the majority of the existing horseshoe-shaped original brick-built Barns. External detailing was cleaned and preserved as well as cleaning and retaining the internal exposed truss sections creating four very different and unique Barn conversions.

HAMMONDS MILL PLACE

LONDON ROAD, HASSOCKS BN6 9AW

A transformation of a derelict, contaminated seven-acre former nursery into four bespoke, energy-efficient family homes. The development overcame ecological, archaeological, and planning challenges, including the protection of bat habitats and preservation of Bronze Age deposits. Sustainability was central—featuring Air Source Heat Pumps, EV charging, smart home tech, and 95% waste recycling. With local sourcing, net biodiversity gain, and extensive green space, the scheme is an example of rural regeneration and environmentally sensitive development.

TOWER HOUSE

LONDON ROAD, ARUNDEL BN18 9BH

A meticulous mastic asphalt refurbishment to a Grade II listed former vicarage in Arundel, now luxury apartments. Using the IKO Permaphalt system, the project included 27m2 of flat asphalt and 51m2 of complex detailing. Challenges included confined gutters, heritage constraints, and adverse weather. Works also addressed localised slate roofs repairs, rooflights, and a cladded water tank. With a 100% recyclable material, this project ensured durable, sustainable waterproofing that respects the building’s historic character.

Jon Stanbridge received judges’ special commendation for his commitment to this traditional trade, including training future generations.
