INTERIOR
LINDFIELD RESIDENCE
Located within the grounds of a Grade II listed property, the new detached home was to provide an exciting, fun and dynamic space for an energetic family. The extensive glazing maximised transparency through the building, designed to dissolve boundaries between inside and out. Scorched timber, together with the rendered plinth, reflected the finishing of the surrounding architecture. The important interconnecting spaces created internal entertaining spaces whilst also retaining areas for retreat and hobbies.

NARROWAYS BARN
BEDDINGHAM
The original dated barn was converted to form a new home and gallery, alongside increasing the ground floor to provide open-plan kitchen dining. The extension was also to form a garden room for a very large collection of plants. Extensive glazing throughout captures the panoramic views and the internal apertures saturate the interior with natural light. Natural clay plaster was used to bring a tactility and textured internal finish.

OLD APPLE STORE
EAST GRINSTEAD
Originally an apple store for a manor house, the brief was to significantly increase the size of the house by adding a new kitchen, dining and living areas as well as a master bedroom. The extension also needed to embrace the landscape setting. A central circulation spine was introduced to cut through the existing house and into a glazed link, connecting to the extension that replaced a derelict greenhouse.

WEAVERS COTTAGE
ANGMERING
A Grade II listed two-storey cottage, recognised as having a significant role in the history of weaving within the village. The plan form is indicative of a post-medieval house, with the frontage faced in flint with brick dressings and quoins and a tiled roof, which historically would have been thatched. The cottage was enhanced by the removal of inappropriate extensions allowing for a new space which would honour the use of traditional Sussex materials.
