COMPLETION OF LANCING COLLEGE CHAPEL

LANCING BN15 0RW

The building of Grade I listed Lancing Chapel, the largest school chapel in the world, commenced in 1868, but the design for the west front remained incomplete. 153 years since the laying of its foundation stone, the west end is complete with the addition of an elegant three-arched porch and glass doors.

ST NICHOLAS’ CHURCH

CHURCH ROAD, WORTH RH10 7RT

A magnificent Grade I listed building which has been used as a church building continuously for over 1000 years. External high-level repairs were needed to stabilise the built fabric of the church building and prevent water damage. Repairs included re-shingling the spire, repointing and repairs to the stonework of the tower, repairs and re-guilding of the weathercock; localised tile repairs; and replacement of portions of the rainwater goods following theft.

HIGHLY COMMENDED

ST MARY’S CHURCH

CRAYS LANE, THAKEHAM, PULBOROUGH RH20 3ER

Grade I listed with the north wall of the nave understood to be the most historic remnant, with low, broad, proportions and a round headed window being indicative of the 12th-century fabric. The brief was for a new annex to sit subservient to the church, to provide a new vestry, meeting room and plant room. In parallel, the inside of the church was reordered to improve access and allow more flexible spaces.
