CATEGORY WINNERS

ALEXANDER HOUSE UNIT 8, ASHDOWN BUSINESS PARK, MICHAEL WAY, MARESFIELD, UCKFIELD TN22 2DU

Set on a new business park site close to ancient woodland, the aim of the project was to produce a modern headquarters building for Jemtech UK Limited. The structure is formed in a traditional steel frame with low pitched roof, clad in modern insulated composite wall and roof panels.

DREW’S BARN WARNHAM PARK, HORSHAM RH12 3RP

The brief was to identify an alternative use for a dilapidated, 350-year-old, traditional oak Sussex barn. The barn was dismantled, each structural member assessed, and replacement timbers crafted from green-oak milled from die-back trees within the park. The barn now serves as a second antler museum showcasing the history of the world famous Warnham Park red deer herd.

WEST WITTERING BEACH CAFÉ, WEST WITTERING PO20 8AJ 

The new cafe was designed to meet the client’s brief that the building should be o. the site not on the site. Inspired by images of a jellyfish the building utilises a naturally vegetated shingle roof which increases biodiversity and is clad with natural materials which are commonly found on beaches and will weather well in the coastal environment.

MERRYDOWN BUSINESS PARK DISCOVERY WAY, HORAM, HEATHFIELD TN21 0GE

The brief was to provide a selection of small business units of different sizes to complement the adjoining residential development for new and small local businesses to rent, in a village community. This resulted in a small self-contained local business centre so as not to conflict with its village setting.
