ANTHONY RIGGALL FOR RESTORATION OF DREW’S BARN, WARNHAM PARK, HORSHAM

The relocation of a dilapidated 350-year-old traditional pegged, oak framed barn, which was dismantled, reassembled and restored within the grounds of Warnham Park. The main aims were to preserve as much of the building and history as possible and to use appropriate materials and craftmanship techniques to reconstruct it.

GARY SHEPHERD, SHEPHERD & GRANTHAM STONEMASONS LTD, FOR WORK TO ST GEORGE’S CHURCH, DONNINGTON

Work on an extension to a Grade I listed church. Dressed stonework in Caen limestone, rubble walling in tumbled Wealden sandstone and the existing buttress, providing lateral support to the North Aisle, have been incorporated into the extension as part of the entrance door dressed jamb stonework.

LIAM O’NEILL, LION ROOFING, FOR WORK TO WEST LODGE, SEAFORD COLLEGE, PETWORTH

The replacement of the roof at West Lodge due to leaking stone gutters and failing lead at the mop ends. The resulting roof saw the stone gutters lead lined with T-pren lead expansion joints added to aid thermal movement, the reinstallation of West Moreland Green random slates and the lead roof at the top of the building replaced with code 8 lead.

LUKE AYLING, FOR WORK TO MOUNT FARM, PULBOROUGH

Luke has worked for Nicholls for the past 7 years on oak timber framing projects. At Mount Farm he had input with the initial oak framed concept design drawings and drew on his considerable knowledge of historic timber framed barns. The resulting oak framing was all hand-crafted using traditional methods from semi-seasoned oak beams.

JENNA BURRELL AND ANA LOGREIRA, CLIVEDEN CONSERVATION FOR CONSERVATION OF AN EARLY 17TH CENTURY LIME PLASTER CEILING, HOTTER SHOES

Cliveden Conservation was invited by surveyors Crowther Overton-Hart to survey and subsequently undertake the conservation repair of a rare surviving early 17th-century ornate plaster ceiling, which had been subjected to smoke damage. The conservators, using traditional materials and current techniques, have preserved this important ceiling for future generations.

LIAM O’NEILL, LION ROOFING, FOR WORK TO WOODEND CLOCK TOWER, CLOCK HOUSE, WEST STOKE

The wooden surround of the clock face and leadwork had fallen into deterioration. All the leadwork was replaced. A new lead capping installed around the face of the clock. The ornate woodwork has been replaced with cast lead to prevent future maintenance and the decorative slates reinstated around the clock face.
