The ponds, probably of medieval origin, are part of a two-year project to showcase the biodiversity of the natural area into tranquil water gardens, whilst also enhancing visitor enjoyment, children’s education and providing a safe haven for wildlife. A new rustic bridge, boardwalk, educational roundhouse and boathouse formed part of this project.

PEACH HOUSE RESTORATION, GRAVETYE MANOR, EAST GRINSTEAD RH19 4LJ
Gravetye Manor is a hotel and restaurant, with a 30 acre historic garden built by William Robinson. By 2010 the original 60-foot-long peach house was in serious disrepair. The restoration included using Ironko timber, fixing the cast iron winding gear and the glass was hand cut with a beaver tail, in the original style.

The restoration of the Grade I registered gardens, following the purchasing of the site with new ownership in 2017. There had been limited to no maintenance for around a decade. The project included restored lakes, managed woodland areas and rock gardens, improved paths, a new visitor car park and the reordering of the entrance and exit.
