HIGHLY COMMENDED
RESHINGLING OF CHURCH SPIRE, ST ANDREW’S CHURCH, THE TYE, ALFRISTON, POLEGATE BN26 5TL
The Grade I listed church was built around 1360. Reshingling was urgently required to the central Tower with broached Spire, clad since in cedar shingles last replaced in 1966. Many shingles had warped, been blown away or been attacked by woodpeckers and were replaced with hand-split oak shingles which were interleaved with stainless-steel strips.
