To create a family house to reflect both contemporary and vernacular design and offer flexibility in layout to meet possible future needs of the occupants. Local architectural references and materials were used, whilst working with a team of local designers and builders with a compatible ethos.

The project involved the refurbishment of this property of historic interest. The property was re-roofed with an eco-friendly Sedum warm roof. Remedial treatments were carried out to the woodwork, as well as the installation of dpm. Updates and full decoration were carried out both internally and externally.

Derby Court is a four storey flat roofed building dating from circa 1960 and is of load bearing brick construction. The aim of the refurbishment was to respect and enhance the functionalist design and efficiency of the existing modernist design.

The brief was to repair a car crash damaged timber framed property. Partial dismantle repair and rebuild of historic oak frame structure with brick infill panels.

The brief was to replace the former collection of haphazard sheds with outbuildings arranged around a walled kitchen garden. The brief evolved through discussion with Charles Morris, firstly to give the buildings some architectural presence, and secondly to create a rational connection between house and outbuildings.

The Mill was an unused commercial Grade II listed four-storey building with elevations of red brick with lacing courses of grey headers and casement windows under a hipped slate roof. The property has recently been converted to form two duplex apartments.

The brief was to create the ultimate bespoke large scale family home. The property is a new build that’s luxuriously appointed and inspired by the local Sussex vernacular. Traditionally built and finished to exacting standards utilising handmade and natural materials.

The existing cottage was constructed in early 19th-century, a detached timber frame house clad in a mixture of brick, tile hanging and timber cladding with a clay tile roof. The brief was for an extension and conversion to provide a kitchen/family area and master bedroom suite.

The restoration and conversion of a dilapidated 16th-century cottage, including thatching the roof and a new extension to match carefully the existing. The proposal to thatch the roof followed a discovery by the archaeologist showing that the cottage was thatched originally.

A through-life sustainable home, which celebrates its hill top site, at Fairlight. The resulting form serves to reduce the mass of the scheme, clearly delineating the public side facing the adjacent houses and the wind protected private side facing the wild flower meadow.
