The Gateway Project comprises of two separate clusters of buildings. Both principal anchor buildings are roofed from 60,000 local English chestnut shakes, cut from Prickly Nut Wood near Lodsworth, Sussex by two local woodsmen and their teams, to ensure a truly local and sustainable product from the outset.The roofing sub-contractor, Kingsley Roofing, was appointed by the main contractor, Pilbeam Construction, to construct the unique natural roofs on the north and south anchor buildings for The Gateway Project at the Museum.

THE FLINTMAN COMPANY, DEPOT CINEMA,  PINWELL ROAD, LEWES

A combination of random knapped flint with knapped flint quoins and coursed knapped flint, for the walls and roof to the education room, and to the entrance aedicule forms an important part of the contextual design for the Depot Lewes, rooting it through craft traditions, in its locality.

JODIE FLAHERTY RIGG, CHARLOTTE STREET, BRIGHTON

The project’s aim was to create a link between a basement office and the family home. The staircase was inspired by the relics of partially submerged fishing boats on the mud flats on the River Adur.

The conservation and repair of the Grade II listed, 16th-century box framed barn. Careful repairs to large scale 16th-century timber sections involving the following components:  oak trusses and jowled posts, oak purlins & rafters and oak box frame (in-situ repairs).

THE DOVE COTE,  MOTCOMBE GARDENS,  EASTBOURNE BN21 1QF

The Grade II listed Dove Cote was not a large project but important to the history of Eastbourne, originally forming part of the farm yard for the Duke of Devonshire, where the adjacent pond is the source of the Bourne spring from which East-Bourne got its name.
