THE LEVEL, UNION ROAD, BRIGHTON BN1 4ZN

The project involved the restoration of The Level, an important public park in a prime location within Brighton City Centre.  Originally developed by Superintendent of Parks, Captain Bertie MacLaren in 1927, the project revived the neglected and run­ down space, bringing the park into the 21st Century.

MUSIC SCHOOL, BRIGHTON COLLEGE, EASTERN ROAD, BRIGHTON BN2 0AL

The new music school sits within a sensitive area of Grade II listed buildings one of which is the first building founding the College, by George Gilbert Scott in 1845. The steeply gabled roof of the music school echo those of the Scott Buildings, its colourful ceramic tiling a modern interpretation of the Victorian tiled roofs.

The client brief was to design a new University Technical College for up to six hundred, 14-19 year olds, located within the historic setting of two existing listed buildings, previously a Marine and Carpenters workshop adjacent to the River Ouse on the Railway Quays site in Newhaven.

LANGUAGE  & RESOURCE CENTRE (LARC) BUILDING
CHRIST’S HOSPITAL SCHOOL, HORSHAM RH13 0YP

The design brief called for a new Learning Resources Centre for Christ’s Hospital School in Horsham, to provide classrooms, a library, study areas, an ICT centre and ancillary accommodation.  The building was located south of an existing 3-sided quadrangle (The Garden Quad) to form a full quadrangle.

BARNS GREEN PRIMARY SCHOOL, THE HORDENS, BARNS GREEN, RH13 0PJ

The scheme consisted of 5 classroom spaces, a main hall, a dual use community room, school administrative facilities and ancillary accommodation.  The mass of the school was carefully considered to sit as comfortably and unobtrusively as possible within its semi-rural setting, surrounded by two-storey housing.

THE CONGRESS THEATRE,
31-41 CARLISLE ROAD, EASTBOURNE BN21 4BT

The largest theatre on the south coast with a capacity of 1689 seated, the Grade II* listed building, and one of a limited number of post-war theatres, underwent a sympathetic historic restoration during 2015.

WORTH PARK & RIDLEYS COURT, POUND HILL, CRAWLEY RH10 3DH

The gardens and former stables buildings have undergone extensive restoration after a successful Heritage Lottery Fund bid. Established in 1840, the Montefiore Family had a large house built with gardens by James Pulham and Son.  Elements of the garden are now listed and work was undertaken to restore key features after long-term neglect.
