A Grade I listed church, St Michael and All Angels has been announced as the overall winner of The Eco Award at the Sussex Heritage Trust Awards on Tuesday 4th July.
The annual Awards, sponsored by Irwin Mitchell, which take place at Pangdean Old Barn presented 36 Awards and 18 projects across 10 categories from residential schemes to public and community projects.  The Awards are designed to recognise and reward high quality conservation, restoration and good design of newly built projects and encourage the use of traditional skills and crafts.
The Eco category, sponsored by Cowan Architects, was launched this year to celebrate sustainability, biodiversity and energy efficiency.  Further special Awards were given to The South Downs Award, sponsored by the South Downs National Park and was awarded to The Woodcarvers Studio in Nyewood, a traditional style timber-framed studio built for professional artist and wood sculptor Alison Crowther.
