King’s Road Arches, 36-61 Kings Road, Brighton BN1 2LN
The project involved the reconstruction of 26 arches (built circa 1880) where the walls and foundations were failing due to subsidence, with the deck suffering severe surface fragmentation. The finished construction is sympathetic with the Victorian architecture and provides a vibrant new artists’ quarter.

In 2010 Mark and Sarah Driver invested in a 600-acre arable farm and are in the process of developing 400 acres of vineyard. The vine-planting programme started in 2012 and by 2020 the vineyard is expected to produce nearly a million bottles of Sussex sparkling wine.

The brief was to utilise the unique site and protected location of an 1860’s ruined barn to provide good quality overnight accommodation with support facilities for seasonal workers as well as flexible accommodation for educational visits and special interest groups.

A Grade II listed building, the 1862 pier was rebuilt in 1935 in the style of the Art Deco period, latterly being run as a nightclub. The brief was to produce a functional building for weddings, functions as well as a daytime cafe.
