The brief was to provide a large new restaurant building and basement set within the underused asymmetrical yard of a world-famous Jacobean manor house (Grade I listed) and garden (Grade II* listed). The rationale was to create a simple, understated and elegant contemporary solution in just over four months.

THE OLD POST OFFICE, 65 HIGH STREET, LEWES BN7 1AA

The conversion of a Grade II listed former post office building into offices for local business The Foundation Stage Forum Limited. Formed of two separate buildings and dating from mid 16th-century, the conversion provided offices, design development studios, meeting and conference/exhibition space, kitchens and toilet facilities.

WADHURST PARK ESTATE OFFICE WADHURST PARK, WADHURST TN5 6NT

The New Estate Office has completes a group of C19th estate outbuildings which had been split into separate ownerships. The project provides a central office, a staff common room and support facilities in one central location while also restoring the whole group as a coherent architectural and landscape entity.

WHITE HORSE INN, THE STREET, SUTTON RH20 1PS

A project to conserve, repair, refurbish and develop an historic, listed country inn to secure a long-term future for this community asset. Extensive works to protect and update the pub, retaining historic features and charm, completed and the pub reopened in December 2018, providing employment and amenity in the SDNP.

GOODWOOD CHAMPAGNE BAR GOODWOOD RACECOURSE

The Champagne Bar is the sixth successful project with R W Armstrong working on the Goodwood Estate. The original facility was demolished, and work included extensive groundworks to create a large kitchen area, extended terrace at ground floor, a stretch-fabric canopy and steel structure, plus a new bar facility.

OAKHURST STUDIO, HORAM, HEATHFIELD TN21 0LJ

To create a low-slung pavilion-style building of modern design, with minimal vertical emphasis whilst maximising of large format glazing to provide high-quality working environment for an Architectural Practice. Choosing a very dark grey colour for the entire building enabled it to be absorbed into the wooded backdrop and wider views.

Operating in the field of high-tech security entrance control, the client required a building style which reflected this through design and use of modern materials and techniques. Originating in Sweden, the company wanted to reflect a Scandinavian influence within both the external design and the interior.

THE SPA AT SOUTH LODGE BRIGHTON ROAD, LOWER BEEDING, HORSHAM RH13 6PS

South Lodge Hotel Spa is a purpose-built spa within the grounds of the award winning 5-star hotel. It features pools, treatment rooms and exercise rooms together with dining and bars. Sustainability is a priority with biomass heating throughout and a reed-bed drainage system in addition to a full meadow-grass roof.
